Everyone in the world knows the iconic view of Naples. Which are the places to see the gulf with the islands of Capri, Ischia, and Procida? Where is it possible to see Pozzuoli from Naples?
Here’s where to go to get the best views of Naples.
Naples … from above
The view of Naples is spectacular and although you enjoy a good view of the gulf from Via Caracciolo, the city’s waterfront, it is a whole different story seeing Naples from above.
Here’s where to go to ensure a unique view of Naples.
- Posillipo
The Posillipo district is one of the most beautiful and elegant in Naples. It is located in the hilly part of the city but from there several paths lead to the sea. Exploring Posillipo starting from via Posillipo and via Marechiaro, you get the most beautiful panoramic views of Naples. As you have probably already guessed, in Marechiaro it is also possible to admire the place mentioned in the famous Neapolitan song “A Marechiaro”.
- Parco Virgiliano
The Parco Virgiliano is a park in the Posillipo district. It is located at one end of the city, called Capo Posillipo. From Parco Virgiliano it is possible to see the Gulf of Naples and Pozzuoli. From the same point, you can also see the islands of Capri, Ischia, and Procida. In fact, the Virgiliano is a terraced park!
To go to Parco Virgiliano, we recommend taking bus number 140 to Piazza Vittoria or from other stops in the Chiaia district.
- Vomero
Vomero is another of the upper areas of the city. To admire the view of Naples, we recommend going to Castel Sant’Elmo and the Certosa di San Martino. Visiting the Certosa di San Martino, you access a terrace overlooking the whole city. To go to the Vomero district, take the underground line 1 or use the city’s funiculars.
